Medical Center Campus
Lane and Sidewalk Closures under Bridge 6 - Glen Avenue and West Medical Center Drive (9 am, Monday, September 14 - 3:30 pm, Friday, September 18)

Glen Avenue will close one lane in each direction during bridge repairs. One lane in both directions of traffic will be maintained from September 14-18. The following closures will take place:

Vehicular traffic on Glen Avenue

One lane in each direction will remain open throughout the lane closures

Work will begin with the outside lanes closed, keeping two-way traffic on the two interior lanes

When work shifts in the week, the interior lanes will close, and two-way traffic will move to the outside lanes

West Medical Center Drive

Closure will begin on the west side of the intersection with Catherine Street/under Bridge 6

When work shifts, the east side will close

Pedestrian Access

Sidewalks will remain open on the east side of Glen Avenue during the first phase of work

When work shifts, pedestrian traffic will move to the west side of Glen Avenue

Traffic pattern change, lane closures - Northbound Observatory Street and westbound Ann Street, closure of Zina Pitcher Place from Huron Street to Ann Street (Monday, September 14 - early November)
Northbound Observatory Street will be closed from East Medical Center Drive to Ann Street, and westbound Ann Street will be closed from Observatory Street to Zina Pitcher Place. Zina Pitcher Place will be closed from Huron Street to Ann Street, but will remain one-way northbound from Ann Street to Catherine Street. Catherine Street will remain one-way westbound from Zina Pitcher Place to Glen Avenue. The following closures will take place:

Cars and bikes: Northbound traffic on Observatory Street destined for Ann Street will be detoured south on Observatory Street, west on Geddes Road, north on Washtenaw Street, then north on Glen Avenue to eastbound Ann Street and south on Observatory Street. Traffic will be maintained southbound on Observatory and eastbound on Ann Street.

Pedestrians: Sidewalk closures will occur to provide space for work and to protect the safety of the public. Posted detours will be provided when a sidewalk closure occurs.

Access to the Kahn Healthcare Pavilion, Cardiovascular Center, Couzens Hall, Simpson Institute, and the Detroit Observatory will be maintained.

Emergency vehicles are advised to follow the posted detours.

Cardiovascular Center (CVC) Traffic Information During Phase 2B
-
During Phase 2B, the CVC front entrance will be accessible via eastbound Ann Street.

Northbound Observatory Street between East Medical Center Drive and the roundabout will be closed.

CVC traffic attempting to turn right from East Medical Center Drive and head north to the roundabout will have to go around to eastbound Ann Street.

Starting Tuesday, September 15, weather-dependent, the P5 parking structure exit traffic will be detoured under the overhang in front of the CVC for several days during driveway approach replacement.

Closure of Packard Street between South State Street and Arch Street (9 am, Tuesday, September 8 - 12 pm, Friday, September 11)
Packard Street will be closed between South State Street and Arch Street for paving from September 8 - September 11. The following detours will be in place:

Vehicular Traffic Detours

Northbound Packard Street vehicles will be detoured west on East Stadium Blvd, then south on South Industrial Hwy, then west on Stimson Street, then north on South State Street back to Packard Street.

Southbound Packard Street vehicles will be detoured south on South State Street, then east on Stimson Street, then north on South Industrial Hwy, then east on East Stadium Blvd back to Packard Street.

Northbound Packard Street bicycles will be detoured west on Granger Avenue then north on South State Street back to Packard Street.

Southbound Packard Street bicycles will be detoured south on South State Street then east on Granger Avenue back to Packard Street.

Closure of State Street between Hoover Avenue and Packard Street (Monday, September 14 - 12 pm, Friday, September 18)
The State Street and Hoover Avenue intersection will be closed for traffic signal and paving work September 14-18. The street will be open by noon on Friday, September 18, to accommodate the weekend events. The following closures will take place:
Vehicular Traffic:

Northbound South State Street: east on Stimson Street then north on South Industrial Highway then east on East Stadium Boulevard then north on Packard Street back to South State Street.

Southbound South State Street: south on Packard Street, west on East Stadium Boulevard, south on South Industrial Highway and west on Stimson Street back to South State Street.

Eastbound East Hoover Avenue: north on South Division Street, then east on Hill Street back to South State Street and Packard Street.
Bicycle Traffic

Northbound South State Street: detoured east on Granger Avenue, then north on Packard Street back to South State Street.

Southbound South State Street: detoured south on Packard Street, then west on Granger Avenue back to South State Street.

Eastbound East Hoover Avenue: detoured north on South Division Street, then east on Hill Street back to South State Street and Packard Street.

Pedestrians will be detoured west on East Hoover Avenue and directed to cross at the intersection of Sybil Street and East Hoover Avenue before returning to South State Street.

Closure of East Hoover Street between Division Street and Greene Street for Games in the 2026 Football Season (9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/17, 10/24, 11/7, 11/21)
East Hoover Street between Division Street and Green Street will be closed effective three hours before the games and to the end of the event.
