Dating back to its inception in 1960, the Ann Arbor Art Fair has upheld its mission to increase the public’s awareness and appreciation for the fine arts and crafts by creating a space that fosters the connection of the artists within the Ann Arbor community and around the world, as well as the general public.
Thursday, July 20 - Sunday, July 23, the city will transform as over 300 artists line the vibrant streets of U-M’s campus and the downtown Ann Arbor area. In addition to its fine merchant displays, The Ann Arbor Fair will have your taste buds in a frenzy from the savory deliciousness of visiting food vendors from across the nation. Enjoy the live music and performances, global assortment of foods, and whimsical art! And don't forget about making sure to visit independent boutiques, as well as local merchants, as the Art Fair brings out the most anticipated blowout sales of the year with prices that can’t be beat.
Looking to explore campus while you're enjoying the Art Fair? We have plenty of museums with extended hours offering art displays and various exhibits. Also, be sure to check out U-M's Department of Cell and Developmental Biology's BioArtography booth on East University Avenue to see and purchase incredible images of microscopic tissue.
With all of the great things that come from the Art Fair, please note that parts of State Street, East Liberty, North University, and South University will close for portions of the week which will cause traffic detours and different bus routes.
Parking & Transportation: Out of town visitors can park just two blocks from the original fair in the Maynard Street Parking Structure or at the University of Michigan parking garage on Thayer and Washington. Many downtown city structures and lots cost $15 a day ($7 after 5 PM). Neighborhood parking is available all along State St. north of Washington at schools, churches, and apartment buildings but for a fee. Shuttles will also run from Pioneer High School, Huron High School, and the Briarwood Mall for $3 roundtrip or $1.50 one-way.
Whether you’ve been passionate about art for years, or you’re simply passing through the Ann Arbor area, the Art Fair has something for everybody.
