As Michigan students begin to settle into another busy semester, many find Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a day to reflect upon our national history and enjoy a day off of school.

Many may not know that there is much more going on around campus in the name of MLK than a day off of classes.  The MLK Symposium is active throughout the entire month of January, and there are so many incredible people to hear from and opportunities to experience.

Here are a few important dates during the 2013 MLK Symposium:

January 1-31:

Sweetland Write-In for the Dream

Time: The month of January

January 13:

The Annual MLK March

Location: Washtenaw County Courthouse

Time: 2:00pm

January 21:

Keynote Lecture by Morris Dees

Location: Hill Auditorium

Challenge yourself to do more than just take a free day off, but take advantage of these these awesome and thoughtful events!  For a complete list, visit
