Path on campus during winter

Trying to enjoy the winter weather, but not sure how?  This is your go-to guide for making the most out of Michigan’s snowy season!

Go ice skating at Yost Arena!  Instead of spending an afternoon sitting around, get up and get active!  An afternoon at Yost is sure to sharpen your skills and to add variety to your daily routine.  Bring your own skates, or rent some for just a few dollars. For more information, please visit the Yost open skate website.

Try cross-country skiing!  There are multiple places in Ann Arbor that offer miles of cross-country trails as well as ski rental.  Cross-country skiing is a fun, healthy way to stay active and still enjoy the beauty of wintertime in Michigan.  Dexter-Huron Metro Park, Hudson Hills Metropark, Stinchfield Woods and Rolling Hills Park are just a few suggestions for local places to get started.  For rental information, contact the Michigan Outdoor Adventures Rental Center at (734) 764-3967.

If you’re feeling less athletically inclined, go for a walk and explore a new part of town.  Wander beyond the company of your familiar neighbors and see what else Ann Arbor has to offer.  You could window shop on Main Street, try something new from the “Eat the Hub” food carts on South University, or take a stroll through one of Ann Arbor’s beautiful and plentiful parks.  Expand your local-horizons and familiarize yourself with something new.
