Fall is a great time to see new things in Michigan, but for those coming from out of state, it may be difficult to know just what we have to offer. Here’s a quick list of a few things I personally enjoy during my favorite season in Ann Arbor.
If you haven’t been to a cider mill in Michigan yet, definitely make it a priority this year. The weather has been unreal (and let’s be honest, how long is that going to last?) so take advantage and head out for some fresh apple cider and delicious donuts while you can. Most cider mills also offer entertainment such as hay rides, pick-your-own apples, corn mazes, or even farm animals to pet. The Pure Michigan campaign made a small list of some renowned cider mills in Michigan, although if you look online you’ll find many, many more to choose from.

Fall is a great time for those interested in photography as well. The beautiful fall colors of Michigan trees can even make the looming winter weather seem a little less daunting. Pure Michigan has yet another awesome resource for this - Fall Color Tours! These tours are scheduled for the peak “color times” specific to each site, so you’re sure to get some awesome memories to take with you!
Fall is also a great time to check out some of Ann Arbor’s local restaurants - many have specials that are only available for a limited time in the Fall season. Many of these restaurants feature dishes with everyone’s favorite fall treat - pumpkin! The Ann Arbor Visitor and Convention Bureau website is a great resource to browse through when considering looking for a local restaurant.
This may seem unnecessary to mention, but campus is also a great place to be when Fall weather hits Ann Arbor. The sticky summer air is gone, replaced with the crisp and clean Fall breeze. Going for a relaxing walk really helps lower stress levels coming from classes, exams or anything else that may be going on. Take the opportunity to walk to a place on campus you don’t see often - chances are you’ll learn something new!
